Thats a pretty idiotic statement. According to you only the rich can be car enthusiasts.

no thats not what that meant... i was talking about the hybrid Porsche buyers.. if u are true lover of the Porsche you should have bough the real one... i know u cant get this too... ur are a hybrid enthusiast..

again the problem is not that.. as we all know whether u buy an axio or a Porsche the taxes we pay are much higher than any other country.. the story here is that the true enthusiast bought the Porsche even when it was at 300 % tax... now most people who buy it is because of the tax break on the hybrids and they are not the real Porsche enthusiast, get it.. therefore, in your eyes he might not be a cheapskate as he still pays much higher than the Canadian or the American.. but to us he is not the real deal.. because if he was he would have spent the 300% tax and bought the car regardless.

I disagree with you on this. Its possible that there were true Porsche enthusiasts who couldnt afford a 'real deal'.. for argument sake lets say a Panamera costs 30mil. But the real enthusiast can only afford to spend 20 mil on a car. He looks at the market and probably end up buying something else thats under 20mil, Does that make him a lesser porsche enthusiast? No, But now the tax breaks comes in and the hybrid panamera is only 20mil.. the enthusiast can finally afford the Porsche he always wanted.

So in not taking sides lemme say that

Cali is right in saying that just cos you buy a hybrid porsche doesnt make you a cheapo.

Charitha (and team:P) are right to say that now that price ARE low anyone who has 20mil ends up buying a porsche simply cos he has the cash. Hence littering the pool of porsche owners who mearly own it cos it was cheap.

Now, lets all drop this go watch some porn!

, i.e they went for the cheaper option. If the hybrids had more tax on them compared to the conventional model no one would buy it in the first place. Let me dumb it down for you a little, if the Panamera hybrid had a 100% tax on it and the petrol version had only 30% which one do you think people would buy ? But in reality the roles are reversed so they went for the one with less tax, kapish ?

Absolutely, yes. People tend go for the option with the lower taxes. I have never said anything otherwise.

So to use your example, if the roles are reversed and petrol Panamera gets 30% tax, yes, of course people will buy it much more than the hybrid. That's human nature and it's true for people all over the world.

All I am saying is that it is unfair to then call the people who choose to buy the thing with lower taxes "cheap" or "cheapskates". That is all.

Porsche achieves highest sales ever in Sri Lanka thanks to hybrids

48 out of the 52 Porsches sold in Sri Lanka in 2011 were hybrids

Good thing for everyone that Porsche drivers don't care about the opinion of the herd.

:D

Hold on hold on.. you started off quoting an article saying "Porsche achieves highest sales ever in Sri Lanka thanks to hybrids" not "Porsche achieves highest sales ever in Sri Lanka thanks to tax cuts".. please stick to one foundation for your argument.

Easily accomplished. Go away from autolanka and troll somewhere else. And before you say something utterly stupid like asking me to go away, thats not happening, I'm the mod here, so it has to be you.

You will not be missed.

The worst mod I have seen. Instead of diffusing a problem you add to it with your utterly useless comments. Maybe you should leave.

Autolanka would be a happier place

 You'll have to forgive me if I laugh at you for doing the very thing I told someone else not to too coz its stupid. Its kinda like saying "Hey, look at me, I'm stupid!"

But then, what else can we expect from someone with your history? (Pssst, thats a rhetorical question, by the way. And if you don't understand what that means, please use google before replying.)

You can laugh, even I do at your ridiculous posts... but answer my question(psst it's not rhetoric). Do you defuse situations or aggravate it?

I think it's time you passed the ball.

Well look closer, and you will find some other reasons that the Hybrid Porsche suits us more than the V6 or the V8 porsche.

All the porsche's except for the Hybrid needs a minimum of 98 octane petrol. So where in Sri Lanka are you going to find that unless your going to put an octane booster costing 1300 very day for your daily drive plus even if you did it still would ruin the engine pretty fast.

The Hybrid Porsche's on the other hand only need 95 octane with a minimum of 91 octane which is available here.

at the end of the day Porsche is a Porsche, they are the best sports car manufacture in the world that has proven it self over and over again whether its a hybrid a V8 twin Turbo they still are better than the competition, definitely not in the looks but in performance and reliability...

Also again the prices advertised on the newspapers are the basic one without VAT! add VAT and see what you get, and most of the must have options are 1 mil ++ each..

I think the V6 Cayenne can run on 91 octane.

In fact, I'm pretty sure it can. The internetz never lie you know.

Thats Great! You had a thought! I hope you didn't strain yourself too much thinking, such unaccustomed bursts of activity might cause you to injure yourself. Pointlessly too, since I really don't care what you think.

If you don't like how things are around here, go find another site. There is a whole internet out there. Maybe you'll find a retardlanka.com to suit your tastes. Just don't bother telling me about it, coz I don't care.

BTW, ur OT. Under current forum rules, any posts that don't add value to a thread can be removed, so any further pointless discussion will be removed.

Those two idea are related.

We've already established that hybrids is what powered Porsche sales in SL to be the best ever.

The next question is what makes people choose the hybrid model over the regular petrol or diesel model of any car. Globally it's been varying combinations of four very basic reasons:

- Better fuel economy.

- Status associated with driving a hybrid.

- Low emissions means it's environmentally friendly.

- Tax concessions/government incentives.

First of all it is unfair to put high end hybrids and Prius on the same class.

Annoying thing is the noise of some Prius owners who are fascinated with cheap gimmicks.

It will be accurate if you say ' hybrids tax cut is what powered Porsche sales in SL to be the best ever'.

it could be anything but ' Status associated with driving a hybrid'

It is well known that energy cost per mile over it's life span for a prius is higher than that of many SUVs.

Environmentally friendliness is just a hype.

Environmentally friendliness is just a hype.

Really? Then I have a challenge for you....

1) We park a Prius or some other full hybrid next to your car.

2) You sit on the ground behind your car and place your nose a few centimeters from the exhaust. Someone else does the same thing with the hybrid.

3) Your car is started and you breathe in the smoke that comes out of the exhaust for 15 minutes. The other person does the same with the hybrid.

Since you think "environmental friendliness is just hype" , I assume you would be up for the challenge, no?

Now, I wouldn't want you to really do this  because you'd get very very sick if not die from breathing in the carbon monoxide, metal particles, chemicals, toxins, poisons and other pollutants that came out of the exhaust. In some parts of the world breathing in vehicle exhaust fumes is a popular way to commit suicide.

And what of the person who had their nose next in the hybrid exhaust? They would be completely unharmed because zero-emissions would have come out of the exhaust of the hybrid. Now that is environmentally friendly.

Typical Cali bullshit. Put your money where your mouth is, and sit next to hybrid exhaust yourself. Or just make sure your A/C is running in the height of summer.

I'll volunteer to get in and make sure the interior is nice and cool.

DO you mean to say Prius doesn't emit Carbon Monoxide? Have u mixed up your prius with some plug-in hybrid?

Could you please do us all a favor and breathe some exhaust fumes from your prius?

Breathing exhaust is not enough to calculate the energy cost per lifetime mile.

You need to consider the total energy require to extract raw materials, transport, process, manufacture, use,

maintain, and dispose them. (i.e. from dust, to dust ).

'Energy cost per lifetime mile' is higher for hybrid vehicles than for the non-hybrids. That's why they say that hybrids are "energy "guzzlers"

1+

It's retarded beyond belief to think inhaling exhaust gases is the way to see which techonology is the most environmentally friendly.

These fake green hybrid fanboys tend forget everything about what goes into making that tech, sustain it and eventually dispose of it.

Each vehicle would have a environmental damage "footprint". Something beyond "carbon footprint" that only deals with part of the problem

You just gotta love marketers though! They see the trend, plug a product and find a way to make money.
