Colonial Motors (Ceylon) Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of COLO is appointed as importer and distributor for Mazda vehicles in Sri Lanka and Maldives according to a stock exchangge filing. Note, the word exclusive has not been used.

Will we have two agents or are CA*MAR* no longer the agents.

One or two agents, i just hope they do justice to the brand. So far performance of the present agent has been appalling to say the least!

If so, situation is very fair for the vehicle owners and future customers. Guess two other brands badly need the local dealership change.

Sri Lanka's Colonial Motors bags Mazda agency
June 16, 2012 (LBO) - Sri Lanka's listed Colonial Motors Plc, said it had bagged the agency for Japan's Mazda Motor Corporation.

The firm said a deal appointing it as the importer and distributor of Mazda vehicles for Sri Lanka and the Maldives was signed on June 11.
Sri Lanka recently hiked taxes on motor vehicles after the island's currency peg came under pressure from a spike in credit taken to manipulate energy prices.

As the word sole importer or distributor is not used,

I think that C*rm*rt will be able to Mazdas too.
After all does anyone who use VWs go there as long as Senok and the guy near that cement plant are around

Only thing wrong at carmart mazda is not there mechanics its the foreman in charge .When you know too much you do stupid things like replacing an ecu for a fault in the wiring harness,thats the type of experienced people you get .
As far as peugeot goes there are fair amount of people who repair them or try to modify the system ,but in the end when the car is screwed it ends up in carmart .Mazda deserves a better agent.

Colonials win Mazda agency

Colonial Motors PLC has won the Mazda agency for Sri Lanka and the Maldives, the company said in a stock exchange filing on Friday.

This agency was previously held by Car Mart.

The filing said that Colonial Motors PLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Colonial Motors (Ceylon) Ltd. has by an agreement signed on June 11 has been made an importer and distributor of the Mazda Motor Corporation and NBK Corporation of Japan.

Colonials hold the Korean Kia and Italian Fiat agencies and deals in Land Rover spares.

Hope they put up a decent workshop with some mechanics who knows his Mazda. Judging by the number of cars I see on the street, it will not be in vain for them to do the investment.

I have a gut feeling that taking the dealership from Carmart and giving it to Colonial Motors might be a good example for the above saying

Today Lankadeepa news paper page 12 Carmart had advertised to say they still are the agents for Mazda vehicles and carry all spares this is a bogus story to say they had lost the Mazda agency.
