Place To Buy A Good Horn (Around Colombo)

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Can anybody recommend a place to buy a good horn? I want the European horn. Not the traditional peep peep horn.

I don't want to go for a cheap Chinese one which will not last long. Any good brand for a reasonable price?

Went through a couple of threads but couldn't find an answer.

Thanks in advance.

Hunt at Delkanda or any used part dealer. You can find a decent pair of Fiamm AM80, Klaxxson, Hella or Bosch at 2000-4000 range.

I have used all those but Japanese Mitsuba Alpha is equally good and easier to find than the others.

German manufactureres like Bosch,Hella have this deep tone which I really like. :sleeping-smiley-001:

but make sure it is not made in India, one friend had a bad experience..

Mind sharing with us on what went wrong on your friend's Indian made Hella horns? Which model of Hella were they? The supertones with the coloured grill/the supertones with the black vertical grooves or something else?

Hi, it stopped working after a few weeks and some parts were rattling inside.

probably some production defect.

luckily the eBay store where he bought it(in Germany, yes they also sell Indian made horns there) gave a full-refund after seeing the video clip he sent them, without sending the parts back.

You gave me a bit of a scare there cos I actually bought a pair of the Black Hella Supertones from Motorcade last Friday, after some research.

Cost me LKR4,950 for the pair (+400 for a Hella relay which didn't come included). I noticed that they were Made in India, which was a bit of a dissapointment.

I tested both varieties of the Supertones and preferred the louder/deeper note from the more expensive model. Haven't got around to fixing them as yet.

Fingers crossed, hoping they last long without any issues.

Yes,i also like the deep tones they produce.

As long as you buy from a renowned shop with good Warranty/afterservice,should be no problem I guess.

Sorry for bringing up an quite old thread

Are the FIAMM horns found in SL made in India too? Is there anything wrong with made in Indian ones? Quality wise? they seem to be considerably cheaper in SL compared to eBay prices. They are sold for like 2700-3000LKR in SL. At the same time I found a pair of FIAMM horns removed of a BMW for 3500LKR.

Not sure if I should I should go for the horns sold at shops or the used set removed from a BMW

FIAMM which sold in panchi are made in Italy. Got myself a pair of AM80S which cost around 2500/-. Came with a FIAMM relay as well.

Then I'll buy it in Sri Lanka itself. I found this online and they are giving discounts for master cards

The key to long life with these 'snail shell' horns is keeping them away from water ingress.

fit them high so they face down, water from flooded roads and service stations will kill them.

parts shops at Dar== road will fit these in mins. there's a model whichplays sirens too.

In the Hiace the horn sits behind the top bit of the bump below the OEM HID ballast, so don't think there'll be issue with water. Thanks for the tip though.

Btw I should have mentioned this earlier, I'm from kandy :D
