I heard that there is a petrol tank oil filter in the cars. So when I should change the petrol tank oil filter? I mean millage? Is there a way to check whether petrol tank oil filter is good or bad? What are the indications that we have to change the oil filter?

Never had an instance to change this filter. This is very rare what you are asking. According to my knowledge there is no specific indication that shows this filter need to be changed. You will only have to do it when fuel contains lot of water in it. This is very common issue with marine vessels but not sure whether you have to do this to vehicles.. :speechless-smiley-004:

I said "Petrol tank oil filter"

Thanks everyone

There seems to be a small issue with your terminology here as NRX has pointed out. What you find inside your petrol tank is generally referred to as a fuel filter or petrol filter. (When we say oil filter it generally refers to the engine oil filter). (In fact the fuel filter which is attached to the fuel pump inside the tank is a screen not a filter. A filter keeps out most of the particles whereas a screen keeps out the bigger chunks but still allows particles that are of a size which wouldn't cause an issue further down the line. Filter usually requires replacement for it tends to clog up with smaller particles but a screen lasts much longer before it has to be replaced. Moreover, by design the screen inside the fuel tank cleans itself to an extent when the vehicle moves unless there are lot of accumulated sediments at the bottom). The fuel filter usually does not need replacement unless it is causing a problem as others have pointed out above. However, please keep in mind that the fuel we get here is not of the best quality and hence as a precautionary measure better to inspect and replace if needed in every 100K km or so. When you replace the fuel filter it is better to clean the tank at the same time for the reasons explained above.
