When the car is warm (ie this issue is likely to be present), remove the fuel tank lid momentarily to release the vacuum inside and then try to start. Let us know if it makes a difference.

Hello Nimz77

Had the same issue with chevrolet cruze (SUZUKI) but when i scan it was showing the fault with CAM Position sensor, and NO problem of start in the morning but after engine on working temp its hard to start

Try service the starter, if that not sorted the issue its worth to do a compression test see if any changes with rings

On mine i have seen the "check engine" light intermittently and after change the sensor and clear the fault code it all sorted

Hope this help

regards

JC

There cars have the coil per spark plug, and they have a habit of failing. But you should check before replacing.

The other issues like cam sensor usually show up on the scanner.

Who scanned the car. Was it the agent using the Consult system?

If you have got the starter motor serviced. Check the usual suspects like blocked fuel line, faulty spark plugs, plug wires, whether you get a spark in the first place, and if all else fails a compression test, though petrols normally start even with a bit of low compression.

Cam Sensor working ...may be i have to do compression test.because im seeing high oil burning.

Don't replace the engine yet. You don't know what sort of lump you will end up with.

If you are burning oil, have you checked the plugs to see if they are spoiled?

Sounds like your car is starting and running. If your problem is the car takes a little while to start in the morning, do check compression.

But likely causes are ignition and fuel delivery. Particularly as I said before coil packs, fuel line blockage, air in the fuel line, and pump issues (gunk in the fuel pump). To test this you can see if the car starts easily if you spray some easy start directly into the air filter as you are cranking. Then stop, and try to start without it.

thanks don...today i did compression test..Results are follows

piston wise

10,10,10,9

as per garage ..they said i have get replace

Piston rings,valve oil seal,Gaskets...etc.

but low compression for delay start?

No issue with fuel line

New Fuel pump

but i will try spraying fuel in to air filter..

is this related to pump relay?

My lancer has the same issue.. but i don't worry much..cz this scenario is applied only when the engine is hot.. so at the moment i slightly press the accelerator before i start and it works.. i think mine is due to starter motor hoping to service it in latter stage.. since its not a big issue for me at the moment..

hmmmm to be honest im not quite sure about it.. but planning on showing this to my mechanic and get his opinion as well..

This issue could be due to starter motor as well as engine compression..not quite sure.. but it's always better to get the starter motor serviced :)

Ok here is the thing.

When an engine is warm, it expands a bit and this compounds any issues with compression loss. That is probably why you are seeing the issue more when the engine is warm than cold.

Delay in starting can be caused by a lot of issues. But if you have a compression leak either through valve seats, charred valves, piston rings etc then you are likely to see a start delay. This is a progressive problem which will get worse over time.

Also oil getting into the combustion chamber will spoil the plugs and injectors making the issue worse. These can be temporally overcome by cleaning them.

Sounds like one of the pistons is a bit low and the others are kind of ok. Read the article below.

How bad is the delay?
