plus points

  • Comfortable
  • good handling
  • engines are less prone to wear
  • powershutters, power mirrors, airbags and stuff come as standard on most models
  • some models even have cruise controll and auto wipers , auto headlights and stuff
  • Has more safety features compared to a same year jap car
  • since ur buying second hand , low secondhand market
  • mileage tampering isnt as simple as changing an IC or replacing the instrument panel so in most cases a genuine mileage

minus

  • tend to give trouble is not maintained properly
  • most spare parts are only available as genuine hence higher cost
  • only a handful of reconditioned spare part dealers.
  • the multi function display doesnt last very long and costs abt 15k for a recondition one.
  • your average garage baas wouldnt be able to rectify the mysterious electrical faults that sometimes occur due to the complicated electronics
  • A fault which triggers the engine light would require a trip to the agents or some specialist who has an expensive scanner and charges an exorbitant amount of money just to plug it in and read the trouble code.
  • 15-16 year old car . so might have some signs of hidden corrosion
  • If its a recondition car then the mileage is shown in miles so beware of that

  • Ah,you my friend are graduating from economy class to Business class. congrats mate,

If yo think like an accountant, you're not ready for one.

Be prepared for continental headaches with a/c's as an evaporator change is a dash out job.

The best person to get advice from is harshana, I don't know if he is still active. Search for harshana senadhira on the member list and pm him.

The 307 is a good car but the biggest issue they face is gearbox problems since they share the same auto gearbox with the 406 (al4 gearbox has insufficient cooling for Sri lanka). Avoid the auto at all costs. Other than that some plastic trims are know to crack including the meter panel clear glass. Overall though it's a damn good car, the ride quality is far superior to any Japanese hatch back.
