Mechanical Garages for Jaguar S Type

Recommended Posts

Sorry this is so late, missed out on this thread somehow. Curious to know what precisely you spent 435,000 on during your suspension repair. That number should be enough to have replaced basically everything on the car so what is the cause of your frustration?

Thank you for your response.

In fact that N*m*l the so called Jaguar Specialist cheated and played me out. I went to his garage to check the Right Front Suspension and he adviced that I should change all parts including Lower Arms.

He part-exchanged my Car's Lower Arms and charged me Rs.57,000/= for each Rear Lower Arm and Almost Rs110,000/= for each Front Sides.

Lately, I realized a Brand new Lower Arm cost approximately Rs.27,000/= per Side.

He also took my all 04 Suspensions including the Coil-Springs and replaced with his parts stating his parts are Original. But when I checked it was revealed that N*m*l had fitted all locally repaired Stuff.

I wanted to buy a Radiator and he charged me Rs.65,000/= for it.

Anyway, now I know he is a Crook and will never go there again.

He was introduced to me by another Lawyer and when I happen to meet him I will definitely report how N*m*l cheated me.

Please don't allow him to promote his garage through your esteemed forum.

Thank you.

Also as a policy, Autolanka DOES NOT promote any garage or mechanic.

Most probably you got played out by a mechanic because of your profession. Read a little bit about your car first and then approach a mechanic. When the mechanic talks jargon, you can question him. Go to ebay and find out parts prices. You can bring parts for all European cars from eBay for a fraction of a price in the local market. Go to Panchikawatta and look around for prices before spending 57,000 for something. Just do your own research first. Otherwise, you will get played out every time you do a repair anywhere. Not just Nimal's. My opinion is its your fault if someone sells you something for 57,000 when the same thing is available in the market for 27,000.

Also are just a member of this forum like anyone else. Leave your attorney-at-law signature aside. This forum has mechanics, IT guys, engineers, students, car sales guys, journalists and one or two three wheeler drivers as well. We are all equals.

Crosswind

I got yourself clearly.

One thing, I can perform a repair alone and I have done it with my previous Daewoo Leganza, after so called Mechanics tried to play me out.

Lawyers are Lawyers and Mechanics are Mechanics.

Cheers !!!

The Ebay parts approach is not really advisable when it comes to Jaguars because the brits build their parts to what seems like a completely different logic system to anyone else. So when it comes to suspension especially, Ebay parts end up not lasting very long and/or break something else as well. So the best option is to buy from a UK Jaguar specialist as they usually stock the genuine part and a good quality (and usually significantly cheaper) alternative as well.

I get my parts from S.N.G Baratt and so far they have been spot on every time.

Well I just did a random check of lower arm prices and the genuine Jaguar parts are very expensive so if he used genuine parts those figures are believable (were they brand new or used/"reconditioned"?)

Replacing the coils seems unnecessary so no idea why that was done, how were you able to ascertain that your coils were "replaced with locally repaired stuff"? As far as i'm aware it is not possible to repair coil springs in any way unless they were broken and then welded or something (which is very dangerous). Or are you talking about the Shock Absorbers?

At the end of the day, with Jaguars in SL you can't really expect to be able to hand it over to a garage and have them fix it properly and not pay very much. The only way to fix one properly and relatively economically really is to research your car and really get to know it, source the parts yourself and get them down, then get someone who knows what they're doing to fit them for you and ALWAYS keep an eye on the work while it's being done. Even then it's not going to be cheap but that's really the only way to go about it, unless you're willing to go to the agents, get it done right and pay eye-watering sums for the privilege.

if it was genuine parts then i guess its kind of ok but if imitation parts were used then its a scam or if he said new and didnt use new but used re-con parts thats also a scam

in another note i do know for a fact that to do the suspension for a old jap car like a CK series lance costs atleast 100k plus

I'm not a jag expert. But you should have researched a little before spending Rs.435 000

But if he claimed that he'd put brand new and put reconditioned isn't that a fraud that can be punished.

So you can take him to courts and get compunsation and also teach him a lesson. If I was doing law I would do that.

Also repaired coilsprings may have a safety hazard
