Hi Guys!

I got an offer for Ford Focus (Man Year:2000) for 1.75mn , the interior and the out look is good!, can I know is it possible to find Ford spare parts in Sri Lanka ??  and is this worth for the money I  spent ?

Your quick reply much appreciated my friends!

There are only a couple of Ford Focuses in the country from that particular YOM. They were all brought in to SL from Singapore. You must be talking about the H-number light blue car.

Engine parts should be common with Mazda 3 or Volvo S40 of same age. The cheapest and the best way to run a car like this, is to stock up parts through eBay. Most of the bits can be bought for less than £ 20 from ebay uk. You will not be able to get body panels locally though.

In addition to eBay you can easily find spares from scrap yards in Australia if you have a friend (I recently got down a fuel pump assy). Engine (1.6L Zetec-S/Duratec) and transmission (Ford 4F27E or Mazda FN4A-EL) parts are interchangeable with Mazda. They are freely available.

If it is going to be a daily runner or only transport better avoid.

One of my friend have a Mondao of similar vintage and most of the time "kota uda" waiting for parts from UK

Price seems to be little high considering small numbers

If you are keen on a Euro there are better options at that price range which would be much easier to maintain Eg; 406, VW Passat

@Rumesh88 Are you using the same car ? any idea on 2nd hand market bro ?

No The car I referred to here is not mine but I helped the owner to solve a few issues with it. I do not have much idea on the market value but for all I know it is a comfy drive.

Yes that is the exact car I'm talking about, is the 1.75 worth for this car ? This is my first car though!

So as per your comment It is really hard to get parts in Sri Lanka right ?? that is a good point to 'focus'.

I had a Mondeo and I have a Focus now. They have been daily runners all the time. I also have used Peugeots. Between Passats, 406s and Mondeos, Mondeo would be by far the most reliable in my opinion.

What you say about "kota uda" is utter rubbish. These cars don't break that easily. I've owned the Focus for nearly 6 years now and never had any problem except for a broken bonnet lock (which I managed to source from UK for about 6000 bucks and came to me within 10 days) and a leaking AC duct (repaired by local agent for 2000 bucks).

The reason why I (and many others who use these cars) get parts down from UK is because they are dirt cheap. You will actually spend much less than maintaining a Corolla if you do that.
